How to choose the right HubSpot website templates

So, you have decided that you are going to build your next website in HubSpot - nice!

But should you enlist the help of a website developer to build - or re-build - your website entirely, or use one of HubSpot's fully customisable, pre-built templates?

Sure, a website developer will be able to code your website to your specifications but it will take much longer and cost substantially more than a pre-built template. You also need to think about optimising your web pages for search and how you are going to add or edit web pages in the future! You don't want to have to call up a website developer every time you need to add or edit a web page now, do you?

HubSpot's pre-built templates, however, are much more cost-effective and are:

  • coded and designed by website developers to be easy to use

  • built with search engine optimisation (SEO) in mind

  • responsive and therefore able to optimise themselves based on the device they are viewed on

  • fully customisable and can be modified to meet your needs

All these features come as standard; so rather than worrying about how much it will cost to build your website, all you need to do is choose the best one for your business. Your website is the most important component in your business' marketing and sales activity, so it needs to be easy to edit and fully equipped!

If you are looking for HubSpot website templates, here are the five things you need to consider:

1. What sort of design are you looking for?

As there are a lot of HubSpot website templates to choose from, take the time to about the kind of template you want to use before you start looking. Are you looking for a more corporate template that is tidy, reserved and modern? Or maybe you want a template that is a little more colourful and interactive? Regardless, think about what template(s) would be suitable for your business' website - it will save you time clicking through templates aimlessly!

2. Are there any specific modules that you require?

A ‘module’ on a HubSpot template refers to a specific section of the web page; it could be a text box, an image, a form, a pricing table, a video, a scrolling banner… the list goes on. Think about your web page’s requirements - do you need a price comparison page or an FAQ table with expandable sections to reveal answers? If so, write these down before you start searching on the marketplace. The library itself allows for you to filter by modules, so plan ahead and find out what you are looking for.

3. What’s your budget?

With the templates available on the HubSpot marketplace ranging from $20 to $1,000, there is something for everyone.

If you run a start-up or SME and you need to build a 10-20-page website, you can easily purchase a small template pack for around $100 and get a fantastic, fully-functioning site. However, if you run a larger company and require several different pages for different things, a $1,000 template pack will provide you with the templates you need to build a multi-purpose website. Once again, have a budget in mind before you start browsing the template library

4. How many different HubSpot website templates do you need?

Another question to ask is how many different templates do you require? As mentioned above, you can purchase small or large template packs that provide you with several different templates. If you want a varied website, a large template pack is certainly useful - but it’s important to remember that you can clone, copy and/or edit any template you have purchased already. For example, if you want to make a slight variation to a template you have already, you can easily do so. We have worked with companies who have bought just one template and used that one template to build a number of page variations.

Of course, if you are looking to increase traffic and conversions on your website (who wouldn’t be?) you will need specific templates, including the following:

  • Blog templates

  • Landing Page templates

  • Thank you page templates

  • Resources page templates

  • Contact us page templates

5. Will you need support moving forward?

Most, if not all, of the templates on the marketplace are created with ease of use in mind - anyone can edit them and create beautifully crafted websites without the help of a website developer. Of course,  if you want to modify and customise your website beyond the parameters of the template(s) you have chosen, some knowledge of CSS is necessary.

Ultimately, HubSpot's pre-built templates are designed to streamline the website creation, editing and management process. They make it entirely possible for anyone with little to no knowledge of HTML, CSS and general website design to create fantastic, beautiful and fully-functioning websites.

However, if you are looking for specific or custom HubSpot website templates and do not have an in-house website developer with the expertise to do so, please get in touch with us and we can discuss how our team of HubSpot website designers can help you.
